Inflation adjustment of Minnesota TNC minimum compensation effective Jan. 1, 2027
Minnesota’s minimum compensation rates for transportation network company (TNC) drivers will be adjusted for inflation on Jan. 1, 2027.
A TNC is a company in Minnesota that uses an app to connect passengers to drivers for prearranged rides. A TNC driver is someone who uses their own vehicle to provide a prearranged ride to a passenger through the app.
State law requires annual inflation adjustments to TNC minimum compensation rates beginning Jan. 1, 2027, and every Jan. 1 thereafter. The 2027 rates reflect a 3.99% increase.
As a result, TNC minimum compensation rates will increase on Jan. 1, 2027:

Minimum per‑mile compensation increases from $1.28 to $1.33

Minimum per‑minute compensation increases from $0.31 to $0.32

Minimum per-mile wheelchair securement device compensation increases from $0.91 to $0.95

Minimum per‑ride compensation increases from $5.00 to $5.20
The minimum per-mile wheelchair securement device compensation is added to the minimum per-mile compensation rate of $1.33, for a total of $2.28 per mile for a vehicle with a wheelchair securement device, regardless of whether the device is used or not.
TNCs are required to notify drivers of any changes to their compensation policies at least 48 hours before the changes take effect. Companies should review their driver notices to ensure they reflect the updated rates.
